Encountered for Freedom
A few years ago Ken and Elizabeth, with our friend Rodger, began meeting together over coffee to share how God encountered us—it wasn’t long before we realized our experiences were relevant and spoke directly to the needs many people face. So, we resolved to establish a resource for people longing to understand homosexuality better and find resolution, and Equipped to Love was born.
Ken and Elizabeth followed the Lord into sexual wholeness and today cast vision to countless others seeking God’s heart for their sexual identities. Drawing upon their combined experiences of walking away from homosexuality, they offer understanding of the issue that opens doors for compassion and understanding.
We are a resource to:
individuals
family members
friends
church leaders

I began a pursuit of my true sexual identity in 1987 when my battle against homosexuality grew into intentions of suicide. After decades of failed attempts at freedom, I encountered God in areas & ways that transformed me. The following years healed childhood trauma, replaced lies with truth, forged deep intimacy with God, and established self-love and masculine identity.

Today, I meet with others and help place them into the hands of the God who helped me find genuine identity and inner peace. And I help churches and organizations understand and navigate LGBTQ issues. I am an author; have been a pastor since 2006; am co-founder of Equipped to Love, a ministry which serves those impacted by LGBTQ; am co-founder of CHANGED Movement; serve Moral Revolution as a lecturer and minister; and hold a B.S. in Marketing/Finance. My greatest joys are my beautiful wife and our four incredible children.

I “came out” in my early 20s and attended a Presbyterian Church (USA) seminary openly lesbian. As a student in seminary I lobbied for marriage and ordination of LGTBQ-identifying individuals and ministered among gay-identifying youth, espousing a theology that embraced homosexuality. Upon graduating I served as a youth pastor in a small rural community, where an encounter with Jesus radically shifted my perspective. The love of God drew me into a revelation that transformed my life.
